Mentor tips
- Be present: Show commitment to your mentee's growth by being available to listen and follow up with support.
- Help define goals: Help your mentee set clear goals and explore different career paths for direction and focus in the mentoring partnership.
-
Facilitate learning: Create a safe space for mentees to bring up challenging situations and explore possibilities, rather than telling them what to do. Support their decisions and check in with them.
- Be mindful of your skills and limitations: Being aware of your skills and limitations can help your mentee discover their own strengths and utilise resources available to them.
- Commit to lifelong learning: Continuously discover new things to enhance your skills and stay updated with the latest trends to pass on to your mentee.
